[It's been a pretty busy day, spent mostly with reacquainting himself with everything in Johto; from the things as small as battle mechanics to gauging how much has really changed since he's been gone. Now it's late night, and Izaya's got no plans to fight every HootHoot on Route 29, so he's just sitting on the New Bark Town signpost. May as well use this time to make his presence known, right? Right! He turns of the video, a slightly smug smile on his face before speaking.]

July? Oya... how much time has passed! Really, I can't imagine - our captors must have been very bored if they decided to bring me back after so long! And here at the very beginning, no less. I wasn't even granted the privilege of a strange coma? Johto, I'm so disappointed.

But that's enough of that. Really, having to start over again is nothing short of troublesome. Now that so much time has passed, I have to ask -- Kachin, Rise-chan -- are you both still here? After all, I did ask you to keep watch of some very important belongings of mine these last few months. Once I arrive at Cherrygrove once again, I'd like to retrieve them, of course! [He points upward, grinning almost innocently.]

I have so much catching up to do, I'm sure! Old acquaintances gone! New ones to greet and see! I can't say I expected it... but this may just be a lot of fun.

[He pauses, letting out a flippant sigh.]

...Well, provided that a certain bartender hasn't made his way back as well. Although I'd think after his last misgivings, even the NPCs would give up on such a hopeless case.

Though I suppose I'll have to wait until I'm in Goldenrod once again to replace some of my other belongings. [You know. The chess board.] How troublesome.

[And with that, an abrupt cut of the feed. Now it was time to wait and see just who was still around who was of any interest to him.]

[Izaya's glad to hear it. Nobody likes dealing with an angry Cobra Commander. It's just unpleasant.]

That's really rather unfortunate. Though unpredictable is Johto's way. I'm sure we'll be able to work things out just fine... though I'll require a bit of time to make up for the lost months.

[The Commander almost disconnects the call, before returning to the screen. He thought of something that might be useful.]

There was another you here after you left Johto. If they had any connections, you might be able to use them for information...especially if they don't know the other you has left.

[Surprisingly, the Commander is capable of a good idea every now and then.]

[There's a very brief pause. Izaya does not approve of this information. Of course, he appreciates being told, but nonetheless, his memories being tampered is not something he's okay with.]

Appreciated, Commander-sama. I'll look into it shortly. Though I have to ask... for how long was this me here?

I sssspoke with him about a month ago. He was on Route 29, ssssoo he couldn't have been here long. It doesn't ssseem to take trainers long to pass that Route.

[The Commander had absolutely no idea about any of that, but it seemed about right going off what other trainers seemed to do.]

I see. [That sounds about right to him.] How very unusual.

It was. He had no idea about our business arrangement. Or any idea who I was!

[He'll just leave out the part where he worked out a similar arrangement with the second Izaya.]

That's unfortunate. It sounds more like an imposter to me. [A mildly amused look.] After all, I've always known who you are. You're a very famous man, after all.

An imposter? It could have been. But why would someone impersonate you?

To gain information? To ruin my reputation?

It could be any number of things, really. [He doesn't believe this is actually the case, but honesty isn't his strong suit unless he's being paid for it.]

Perhaps they wanted information on your clients?

[He's not sure how much information they could have gathered since they didn't seem to be actively trying to get anything out of him.]

Yessss, posing as an informant, that's the sort of thing I would have Zartan or Baroness do back home.

Precisely. It's good see the point I'm trying to make here, Commander-sama. Though I wouldn't expect any less!

It's to be expected. I've ordered many esssspionage operations in my time. It's only natural that I would have an understanding of how these things work!

[He's just sort of making this up as he goes along to cover for his own ignorance.

[A pause, and a small chuckle.]
